Create a time off restriction
A time off block is a period during which employees cannot request time off for selected absence policies. Once you save a block, it takes effect immediately for the selected policies.
Go to Time Off > Settings.
In the vertical menu, select Time off restrictions and click Settings.
Click Add restriction.
In the Name and dates tab, enter the title and the start and end date of the block.
Optionally add a description and a recurrence.
Click Next.
In the Absence policies tab, select which policies the block should apply to.
Click Finish.
Note: The restriction applies to all employees assigned to the selected absence policies.

Click the three-dot menu at the end of the row and select Delete.
Confirm with Yes, delete.
Behaviour when a time off restriction is active
When an employee tries to request time off for a period that falls within an active restriction, the system automatically prevents the request.
The employee sees a red notice: "You cannot submit this request due to a time off restriction."
The button to submit the request is disabled.
This behaviour applies both in the desktop view and in the mobile view.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't my employee request time off?
The desired period likely falls within an active time off restriction. The employee will see a red notice and cannot submit the request. Check under Time Off > Settings > Time off blocks > Settings whether a block is active for the employee's policy in the relevant period.
Does a time off restriction apply to all employees in the company?
No. A time off block only applies to employees assigned to the absence policies selected for that block. Employees under other policies are not affected.
Can I temporarily suspend a time off restriction?
Yes. Deactivate the block via the three-dot menu with Deactivate instead of deleting it. The restriction will no longer be enforced and can be turned back on at any time via Activate.
Can I restore a deleted time off restriction?
No. Deleting a time off restriction cannot be undone. If you only want to temporarily suspend a restriction, use Deactivate instead.
Why can't I see the time off restriction feature?
Time off restrictions are a premium feature. If the feature is not included in your current plan, it will be shown as greyed out. You can request an upgrade via the settings.
