For DSPs: Export TSM data and import it into Kenjo

Step-by-step guide for switching completely from Timesheet Mobile (TSM) to Kenjo – from exporting employee data and timesheets in TSM to completing the import into Kenjo.

Written by Franzi Schuetzer

Want to switch from Timesheet Mobile (TSM) to Kenjo? This guide walks you through the entire process step by step, from exporting your data in TSM to completing the import into Kenjo.

Note:

When exporting from TSM, you can customize the columns individually. For the time off import into Kenjo to work smoothly, the following columns must be included:

  • Location

  • Hours

  • Insert row(s) for subtotals and totals

Step 1: Export employee data from TSM

To export your employee list from TSM correctly, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Timesheet Mobile account: https://dsp.timesheetmobile.com

  2. In the main menu, navigate to the Employees tab.

  3. Check the employee list and make sure all relevant fields, such as name, email, role, department, and pay rate, are filled in.

  4. Click More options, then select Download CSV.

  5. After downloading, save the file as: Employees_TSM.csv.

Step 2: Export timesheets from TSM

Unlike Kenjo, TSM keeps attendance and time off data in a single record. When you export timesheets, you get both pieces of information at once:

  1. In the main menu, go to the Reports section and click Timesheets.

  2. Filter the records by the date range you want, for example the last two weeks or the last month.

  3. Check the entries for completeness: your employees' names, clock-in and clock-out times, job codes, and hours worked.

  4. Click the download arrow and select Employee CSV.

  5. Save the file.

Note:

Variable compensation data is not stored in TSM, so it cannot be exported.

Step 3: Import employee data into Kenjo

First, watch our video on TSM data import:

Tip: to enable English captions, click the CC button in the video player and select English.

Before you upload:

  • The file must be in CSV format.

  • All employees must have an email address on file, it serves as the unique identifier in Kenjo.

  • Check that employee names are spelled correctly.

  1. Click + ADD EMPLOYEE > Import data.

  2. You're now in the Data import section.

  3. Click Employees and select Migration with TSM export. Drag and drop the exported file into the field, or upload it directly from your computer. Click Upload.

Recommendation:

If you want to import custom fields from TSM, create these fields in Kenjo first:

  1. Go to Settings

  2. Open Employee fields in the horizontal menu

  3. Click ADD CUSTOM FIELD

  4. Enter the field name

  5. Select the matching field type (e.g., text or numeric)

Note:

All employees need an email ID in the TSM export file. If it's missing, the record cannot be imported.

The column order of the TSM file must not be changed, and no additional columns may be added.

Map fields

After the upload, Kenjo automatically maps the fields it recognizes. If a field wasn't mapped automatically:

  1. Open the field's dropdown menu

  2. Select the matching Kenjo field

Optionally, you can choose to not import data from unmapped columns, this setting is recommended.

1

Automatically mapped Kenjo field

2

Green checkmark = field successfully mapped

3

Black X = field not mapped

4

Enable this checkbox to exclude unmapped columns (recommended)

By default, Kenjo imports all data from the TSM file. The following data is excluded:

Why it's not imported

Location option

Kenjo couldn't determine its intended use

Mobile carrier

Not used by the 3 DSPs surveyed

Payroll entry

If you still want to import this data, create custom fields and run the import again.

Kenjo maps the following fields to existing Kenjo fields by default:

Once all data has been processed, you'll receive an email. You can check the status and any errors under Settings > Data import:

You'll find all imported employees and their data in the employee directory.
