The shift history helps you with three important tasks:

Traceability: See at a glance who made which change to a shift and when, and exactly which fields changed, with name, timestamp, and old value → new value. This is helpful when employees want to understand why their shift looks different than expected, and when several shift planners manage shifts together and want to keep track of all changes.

Compliance & audit: The complete change history is proof that shifts were planned and authorized correctly, which is required for legal compliance, especially in heavily regulated industries like healthcare, where working time documentation is audited. Also relevant when the works council needs to be informed and kept up to date on changes.

Error analysis: If something goes wrong (wrong employee, wrong location), you can go back through the history to see how the error happened and who was affected.

When you open a shift, you can see a complete change history: who created, edited, published, or assigned it, and exactly what changed.

A user without permission to view a shift also can't view its history.

ℹ️ The shift history feature is available for customers on the Connect V4 plan with TAA+Admin, as well as during the free trial period. If your company doesn't have either of these plans, the history tab is locked with an upgrade message.

If another shift planner deletes a shift you created, you'll automatically get an in-app notification. If you delete your own shift, you won't get a notification.

When several shifts are deleted at once (bulk deletion), the notification instead shows:

ℹ️ Break duration isn't shown in the notification. If several creators were affected by a bulk deletion, each creator gets their own notification showing only their own deleted shifts. This notification closes a gap in the shift history: deleted shifts no longer appear there, since they've been removed. The notification is the only way to find out that, and by whom, one of your shifts was deleted.

Can I see the history of a shift created before this feature?
Yes. Shifts created before the history feature show a creation entry from the shift's audit fields, so you can always see who created it and when, but individual field changes from the moment of creation aren't recorded.

Does the history show who approved time-off requests?
No. Time-off approvals are recorded in the Time Off module, not in the shift history. The shift history only records direct changes to the shift card itself.

Is an empty edit recorded?
No. Empty edits (opening a shift and saving without changes) are deliberately not logged, to keep the timeline focused.

What time zone is the history timestamp in?
The timestamp is shown in your local browser time zone, so you see the actual time the change happened. A shift's date (if changed) is always UTC, so the calendar date never shifts.

What happens if several shift planners had created shifts in the same bulk deletion?
Each affected creator gets their own separate notification, showing only their own deleted shifts.
