What is the Attendance Kiosk?
The Attendance Kiosk is a shared device where your on-site employees clock in and out using a PIN code or QR code. In the admin settings, it appears under the name Kiosk.
Important: Once the kiosk is active for an employee, it replaces the Punch clock. That employee can then only clock in and out at the kiosk.
Prerequisites
Before setting up the kiosk, make sure the following are in place:
The Attendance module is activated (Settings > Features > Attendance).
Your employees are assigned to an attendance policy with the PIN code or QR code method.
Step 1: Activate the kiosk
Go to Attendance > Settings > Attendance Kiosk > Kiosk & sessions.
Toggle Activate the Attendance Kiosk to the right.
Check that the system shows the status Kiosk (Activated).
In the settings, Kenjo displays "Kiosk" here: this refers to the Attendance Kiosk.
Step 2: Choose a device
Choose the device you want to use as the kiosk. Suitable options include:
iPad or iPhone
Android tablet or smartphone
PC, laptop, or Mac (with keyboard for PIN entry)
Smart TV with Chrome (with connected keyboard for PIN)
Note: The QR code method does not require a touchscreen. For the PIN code method, employees must enter their PIN via a touchscreen or connected keyboard. If using a browser, we recommend Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
Step 3: Place the device and launch the kiosk
Place the device where your employees will clock in and out. There are two ways to launch the kiosk:
Via URL
Open a browser on the device.
Copy the URL using the Copy icon and paste it into the browser.
Via QR code
Click QR code to launch the kiosk.
Scan the QR code with the device you want to use as the kiosk. A camera is required.
The kiosk will then request an activation code:
Enter the email address of an Admin or HR Admin.
You will receive an email with a 6-digit activation code.
Enter the code and click Send.
Note: The activation code is only valid for 5 minutes. After that, you need to request a new one.
Step 4: Choose a location and check-in method
After launching the kiosk via URL or QR code and entering the activation code, the kiosk will ask you directly on the device to select a location and check-in method. There is one kiosk per location.
Select the location where the kiosk will be placed.
Click Activate the Attendance Kiosk.
Choose the check-in method (PIN code, QR code, or both). By default, all available methods are activated.
Note: Only locations you have previously created under Settings > My Company are available. Once an employee logs in at the kiosk, it will display in the language of their Kenjo account.
Install the Kenjo Kiosk app
Instead of the browser, you can use the Kenjo Kiosk app directly on your on-site device.
iOS: App Store > Search Kenjo Kiosk > Get
Android: Google Play > Search Kenjo Kiosk > Install
Once installed, configure the session as usual.
Secure the device against unauthorised use: The kiosk does not lock the device by itself. To prevent anyone from closing the browser or tampering with the device:
iOS: Settings > Accessibility > Enable Guided Access.
Android: Use a kiosk browser app from the Play Store that locks the screen.
Add the kiosk to your home screen
Since you open the kiosk regularly, you can create a shortcut on the home screen:
Android (Chrome): Menu (three dots) > Add to Home Screen.
Apple (Safari): Share > Add to Home Screen.
Manage sessions
Once the kiosk is running, the session appears under Attendance > Settings > Kiosk & sessions.
Edit a session (pencil icon):
Change the Welcome message
Change or replace the photo
Activate or deactivate a check-in method
Change the kiosk colour
Delete a session: Click the bin icon or select Actions > Sessions > Log out session. You can delete individual or multiple sessions.
Device and QR security: The QR code on the kiosk changes every 30 seconds: it cannot be photographed and used later.
Deactivate the kiosk
Go to Attendance > Settings > Kiosk & sessions.
Toggle off Activate the Attendance Kiosk.
Type Deactivate in the text field to confirm.
Consequences of deactivation:
All open sessions are closed immediately.
All kiosk configurations are lost.
Employees can no longer clock in via the device.
If you reactivate later, you will need to restart all kiosks.
Permissions
Admin and HR Admin have full access: activate, deactivate, manage sessions, manage PIN codes.
To allow specific employees to manage the kiosk and PIN codes, create a custom profile under Profiles & Permissions with the Start kiosk & manage PIN codes permission. That employee can launch the kiosk from the device and view/update PIN codes, but not activate/deactivate the kiosk or manage sessions.
Frequently asked questions
The kiosk cannot be activated.
If the kiosk cannot be activated, check that you are using an Admin or HR Admin email address — only these can launch the kiosk. The activation code is also only valid for 5 minutes; request a new one if needed.
After the internet connection is restored, the kiosk requests all data again.
If the connection is interrupted, the session may be lost and the kiosk needs to be restarted. To restore the session, contact your Admin and ask them to check under Kiosk & sessions.
Which devices work with the kiosk?
The Attendance Kiosk works with iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and smartphones, PCs, laptops, Macs, and Smart TVs with Chrome. For the PIN method, a keyboard or touchscreen is always required.
What happens if I deactivate the kiosk?
If the kiosk is deactivated, all sessions are closed and the configuration is lost. The time entries already recorded by employees are kept.
