Open the workspace
Go to Analytics > Workspaces > Payroll preparation.
It is available as a standard workspace. To change it, duplicate it first by clicking duplicate to edit.
Understand the 4 standard widgets
Time off requests by day
One row per absence day, not per request: every time off request broken out day by day for payroll preparation. Each absence day carries the request's status, type, policy and pay settings, plus a yes/no flag for whether that specific day was a working day under the policy.
Attendance entries
One row per attendance entry (a clock-in/clock-out record), taken from the attendance export page. Columns: employee, company, office, department, manager, date, start and end time, worked hours, break hours, comment, approval, category, subcategory, coordinates, address, last modified, last modified by.
Employee master data
One row per employee. Starting columns: employee, email, start date, weekly hours, work schedule, work schedule type, reports to, office, company, department, team. 104 columns are selectable in total.
Employee headcount
One row per employee. Starting columns: employee, email, company, office, department, job title, start date, termination date, reports to, FTE, weekly hours. Same data source and the same 104 selectable columns as Employee master data. The two widgets differ only in which columns are switched on by default.
Add the Overtime summary as a widget
The Overtime summary is not one of the four standard widgets. You can add it yourself:
Duplicate the workspace using duplicate to edit.
Click Add widget.
Under Metric, select Overtime summary from the Payroll preparation group.
Click Save.
The Overtime summary shows one row per employee and month. Columns: employee, first name, last name, employee number, month, overtime balance in minutes, overtime balance in hours, tracked time, company, office, department, status and email. This widget is available as a table only, not as a chart.
Manage columns
Show or hide a column:
Click the manage columns icon at the top right of the table.
A panel opens listing every available column.
Click the eye icon to show a column, click it again to hide it.
Your changes are saved automatically.
Reorder columns:
Open the manage columns panel.
Click the six-dot icon on the far left, hold it, and drag the column to the position you want.
Release it. The new order is saved automatically.
Sort a column:
Click the two-arrow icon next to a column title in the table.
The table sorts ascending (A to Z, or smaller to larger numbers).
Click again to sort descending (Z to A, or larger to smaller numbers).
The active sort state is visible in the column header.
Filter the data
The workspace offers the usual filter options.
For DSP customers: the Employee ID and Terminated filters are the ones that matter for your payroll preparation.
Use the workspace in your role
If you are a DSP: Use the workspace to prepare your monthly payroll run. Check time off requests, attendance entries and employee data in one place. You no longer need to switch between several dashboards.
If you are an admin or HR admin: Use the workspace to verify employee data. Compare time off requests against attendance entries and master data to spot discrepancies, or to check the figures before a payroll run.
Frequently asked
Why are time off requests shown by day instead of by request?
So you can see exactly which days were deducted. A request covering 24 to 28 September produces 4 rows, one per absence day.
Are my column settings saved?
Yes. As soon as you show or hide a column, or change the order, the change is saved automatically.
Can I sort by several columns at once?
The table sorts by one column per click. Click a different column title to sort by that one instead.
What is the difference between Employee master data and Employee headcount?
Both read the same data and offer the same 104 columns. They differ only in their 11 starting columns: master data starts with work schedule and team, headcount starts with job title, termination date and FTE.
Is the overtime balance the same as the one in payroll?
No. The Overtime summary shows the balance from the attendance evaluation before the payroll run. Payroll calculates the balance according to your attendance policy rules and can show a different number for the same employee and period.
Who can see this workspace?
Admins and HR admins only.
Are more widgets planned?
